Our Wedding

October 18th, 2003 Laura Force gave up her excellent last name for the much more annoying "Scruggs."  She must really love me.
We got married at the Cultural Center in downtown Chicago -- lots of black marble and beautiful views of the city.  Also, it's only 10 bucks!

Sherri and Grandma and a bronze bull (outside the Cultural Center)

Mom and Grandma next to that silly bull again

Here's Mom Force and Katie Force proving that this is indeed the Cultural Center

The cultural center has the largest tiffany dome anywhere!

Dad, Me, Sherri, John, and grandma

Other couples about to be married before or after us

They said we could only have 10 guests so the room was pretty empty.  Huda, the best man, is taking a video of the ceremony.  Hey!  Where is that video?

Actually they originally said we could have as many people as we wanted but later they changed their story

Anyway, the room was very nice

Laura's hair took longer than she thought so she arrived about 10 seconds before they were going to make us get married some other day.  You can see Lauren, the Maid of Honor, in the crazy colors (it was a rainbow themed outfit -- why? Wizard of Oz themed reception)

Before the ceremony

During the ceremony...

At some point the Judge started asking us questions

Like, "How long had you dated Laura before you knew she was The One."

Not being prepared for the Spanish Inquisition, I had to think about that one.

Apparently I answered correctly (6 months) because she let us get married.

The Kiss.  Whoo!

Yep, there's the license.  We are now officially married folk.

Now we're at the reception, here's Laura and her Dad

My Dad in the lower corner and Jen and Paul in the center

Reza's restaurant was really nice for the reception.  This is my cousin John, my nephew matt, and John's wife Sherri

Old friends: Matt and Ken

My nephews: Matt and Tony

Matt, Sherri and John enjoy that free liquor.  Let's hear it for free liqour.

Why does my hair look gray?  Laura's dress coast 10 bucks at a thrift store.  My tux was 20.  No foollin'

My cousin Melissa hugs me.  Awww.

My Dad and Jill

My two Dads.

Mom Force, Uncle Jon, and Grandma Pohlmann

Aunt Amy is at the Munchkin table -- don't the big things make her look small?

Here's the aftermath of almost burning down the resterunt.  Why they let us set off 50 sparklers indoors I'll never know.  I'll also never know we they didn't throw us out.

Very expensive, but very good cake.  Did I mention the wedding had a Wizard of Oz theme?  Laura and her friends spent hours decorating the resterunt with all sorts of crazy stuff.

The head table: Huda, Me, Laura, and Lauren

Laura cuts the cake.  That big piņata is a lion (cowardly lion -- get it?)

More of the happy couple.  Yeah!

More cake cutting.

They threw gummi monkeys at us as we left the restaurant (Flying monkeys!)

This page is constructed from photos I had available to me, but I'm more than willing to add more.  So if you want to send me a digital version I can put it up pretty quick.  I can scan regular photos, but that might take some more time.

Thanks to everybody who came to our wedding.  I'll get those thank you notes out sometime real soon.  Really.
